It as a word of reclamation

If I heard someone call me “an it”, or whatever, I’d probably be very offended or disgusted. And hearing people say it also makes me a tiny bit uncomfortable. Since it is essentially a slur (a word turned into a noun to dehumanise people is usually a slur).

But like, what I don’t get is why other people can’t use it for themselves? Well, rather, have others use it on them. Isn’t it a good thing that people take away other people’s power to degender them? Like if someone calls them it, that would be correct, I’d imagine it being bitter-sweet. But still, it’d take away some power from cis people to dehumanise trans people. Because it no longer is as effective on everyone.

Which is the point of slur reclamation. It takes away some of their power, it makes it so that over time, it won’t feel as bad hearing. So I think, people really should get to have it/its as pronouns. I don’t really see the actual problem with it.
