I’ve concluded that cis people, even those that claim to be
supportive.. just never seem to consider that trans people have
feelings. I mean, why else would they be so lazy about pronouns,
gendered language, and names? They say things like “this is hard for me
too”, or talk of how they’re just so used to it. Which clearly indicates
they’ve never even considered... maybe there’s a reason why we’re so
assertive about them being correct language to refer to us? They seem to
have never considered we’re not apathetic about it, that we actually
want basic respect. It’s almost as if they’re selectively refusing to
sympathise with trans people..? It genuinely feels like this is all just
systematic gaslighting to be honest.
I wish supposed “allies”
or people that supposedly are supportive, would just stop for a moment
and think that maybe a person in a really marginalised group, probably
would appreciate a bit basic human respect. Like how is a frickin
pronoun so inconvenient? Do these people realise that trans people
generally have their entire humanity, personhood, personal autonomy, and
lives disregarded by society at large? How is that out-weighed by “But
it’s hard getting used to”?? We have to unfortunately get used to that,
and a lot more, so please just.. stop..?
(Side note: Not being
able to empathise emotionaly, and selectively refusing to sympathise
with a specific minority are two different things)
